In this episode of the OsProgramadores Podcast, Marcelo talks with Felicitas Pojtinger, an experienced software developer deeply involved in the open-source ecosystem. Felicitas currently works in Research & Development at Loophole Labs, exploring technologies around checkpoint/restore, live migration, virtualization, and networking. She is an active contributor to the open-source ecosystem and can be found across platforms including GitHub and Codeberg under the username pojntfx.🛠️ Open Source ProjectsSome of Felicitas' notable projects include:🌐 weronAn overlay network based on WebRTC.https://github.com/pojntfx/weron💾 go-nbdA pure Go implementation of the Network Block Device (NBD) protocol.https://github.com/pojntfx/go-nbd🖥️ bofiedA modern network boot server designed to simplify network boot infrastructure.https://github.com/pojntfx/bofiedThese projects demonstrate a recurring theme in Felicitas' work: building practical infrastructure tools while exploring challenging problems in networking, virtualization, distributed systems, and open-source software.💬 In This EpisodeDuring our conversation, we discuss:👩‍💻 Felicitas' journey into software development🐧 Working in the Linux ecosystem🔓 Open source and developer communities☸️ Kubernetes and modern infrastructure🖥️ Virtualization technologies🔄 Checkpoint and Restore🚀 Live Migration🌐 Networking and distributed systems🕸️ WebAssembly🤝 Building and contributing to open-source projects🏗️ What it means to build infrastructure that lasts💡 The importance of curiosity and experimentation🌍 Collaborating with global open-source communities🚀 Career advice for developers interested in infrastructure and systems programmingAnd much more!🏗️ Building Infrastructure That LastsOne of the fascinating themes behind Felicitas' work is the idea of building infrastructure that stands the test of time.Infrastructure software often operates behind the scenes, but it powers nearly everything we interact with. From containers and Kubernetes to virtualization platforms and distributed networks, reliable infrastructure requires careful engineering and a deep understanding of systems. The open-source ecosystem plays a critical role in this process, allowing developers from around the world to collaborate, experiment, review ideas, and build tools that can become foundational technologies.🔓 Open Source and CommunityOpen source is much more than publishing code.It is about:🤝 Collaboration📚 Sharing knowledge🔍 Transparency🌎 Global communities🧪 Experimentation🚀 InnovationFelicitas' work across multiple open-source communities provides an interesting perspective on how developers can contribute to the broader technology ecosystem while also developing their own careers and technical expertise.🔗 Links👩‍💻 Felicitas Pojtinger's Websitehttps://felicitas.pojtinger.com/🔗 Felicitas Pojtinger on LinkedInhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/pojntfx/🐘 Felicitas on Mastodonhttps://mastodon.social/@pojntfx🦋 Felicitas on Blueskyhttps://bsky.app/profile/felicitas.pojtinger.com💻 Felicitas on GitHubhttps://github.com/pojntfx🔓 Felicitas on Codeberghttps://codeberg.org/pojntfx🌍 OsProgramadores Websitehttps://osprogramadores.com📺 OsProgramadores YouTube Channelhttps://www.youtube.com/@OsProgramadores🎧 OsProgramadores on Spotifyhttps://open.spotify.com/show/0IrqGbURcNnumdHVkfKIFA💬 OsProgramadores Telegram Grouphttps://t.me/osprogramadores🎧 Enjoy the Episode! If you're interested in open source, Linux, Kubernetes, networking, virtualization, WebAssembly, distributed systems, or infrastructure engineering, this episode is for you.🚀 Listen, learn, share, and join the conversation!
