EP15 - Deep listening to the near future with Peter Merry #METACRISIS

Notas do episódio

(EN) In this episode on the #metacrisis, I had the pleasure to talk with Peter Merry, PhD, researcher, and pioneer in the field of consciousness evolution. Peter's journey has been marked by Ken Wilber's integral theory and his encounter with Don Beck's Spiral Dynamics theory, where his understanding of evolution deepened, bringing together structural, cultural, relational, and energetic pillars. In his doctorate, he took his learnings from integral theory and complexity and worked on what later became known as ‘Volution Theory’ - the integration of involution and evolution as a single process. This Volution movement is divided by colours and reveals that each level of consciousness has mirrors and structural tensions, showing that healthy progress requires transcending and including, rather than transcending and repressing. Peter shares how it was to realise that we understand so little about our minds and, precisely because of this, we can do little to plan, predict or control a path. And that, based on this, we need new forms of access, no longer just rational intelligence, but rather a radically intuitive intelligence. As he himself says, ‘it's an emotional journey... it's a moment of really letting go. And our ego is still there, shouting “I want to change the world”, and you realise that what you need is to surrender and accept the fact that we don't know much and that we won't have the solutions individually.’ Finally, he expressed how this trajectory led him to create experiences and devices capable of measuring the level of connection between people, bringing to light something we feel but cannot always explain: the quality of the collective field. These consciousness technologies can support decision-making, collaboration, and leadership processes by making the quality of relationships perceptible, revealing the nature of interconnection. > Expect a deep conversation that inspires us to rethink the way we create, lead and relate to each other.
