In this episode of YALLA, we speak with Saed Zboan, a coordinator at the Aida Youth Centre, born and raised in Aida refugee camp on the northern edge of Bethlehem. Founded in 1968, the Aida Youth Centre works with the camp’s children and young people through art, film, photography, music, and summer programmes, while advocating for Palestinian refugees’ rights. Saed is also one of the people who walks visitors through Aida, a camp overshadowed by the Apartheid Wall and Israeli military watchtowers. We visited Aida with Saed. While he was showing us the camp, the Israeli army fired tear gas and children scattered through its streets. Afterwards, we shared maqluba in his family home, cooked by his mother. In this conversation, we speak about Aida’s history, life under military occupation, and what it means to grow up in a refugee camp that was never meant to become permanent. 🔔 Subscribe to the channel and turn on the notifications so you don't miss any episodes! 📢 Support independent media production: https://www.dontskiphumanity.com/support-en 📲 Follow us on social media: @dontskiphumanity 📺 YALLA is a series that delves into the Palestinian struggle.
